Language Tests Week 4

June 30, 2007

Week 4 Language Tests

This past week has been hard for most people. The stress of language classes shows in the fact that this is the first time I have seen most of the people down, rather than their usual up attitude. We are graded on all tests and presentations, needing an 80% to pass.

On Friday, we had one on one language comprehension testing. We were asked questions and had to respond in Samoan. The speed at which the trainers speak has increased along with the amount of material covered in a week’s time. Some days are filled with just language classes, as well as preparing for tests and group presentations.

On Saturday morning we made group presentations about the Village of Manunu. We were divided into four groups of four each. Most of the week we prepared by writing our speeches and making a map of the village. Mary and I were in separate groups. Fortunately we passed both Friday’s and Saturday’s ordeals.

As a break we are all returning on Saturday to the Apia Central Hotel where we have Saturday afternoon and Sunday to relax.
